Murder Weapons
1. A Quick Overview
In California, we used to run earthquake drills in elementary school, now we run active shooter drills.
Since the invention of gunpowder over a thousand years ago, never has humankind seen such a dire, unique and preventable threat targeted specifically at children in its use.
These times are over. We demand freedom and safety.
Article 2, Section 2 of the Free Republic of California Constitution protects our collective right to live:
All weapons shall be strictly regulated by Act, with some weapons prohibited from use or possession without authorization from appropriate authorities. Citizens may only store and maintain their weapons in controlled regulated sport and hunting facilities as determined by Act or may turn their weapons into the State for reasonable compensation. Prohibited weapons shall include guns, explosive devices, and any other item chiefly manufactured for similar violent use or the misuse of which is likely to result in grievous bodily injury. The list of prohibited weapons may be expanded upon by Act.

I am writing to demand a commitment to public safety statistics and rational thought. We are faced with a domestic pandemic of mass casualty incidents, all preventable should the murderers not had easy access to weapons of warfare. Our children should not fear for their lives as they walk into elementary school and a concert should not drown in a sea of bullets. It is time for change.
Citing the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution is irrelevant and of no consequence. There is no right to possess modern weapons of murder, but there are evergreen rights of liberty, freedom, privacy, assembly and speech. In those rights, there are inherent concepts of community, safety and equity. Allowing the free circulation of any weapon capable of mass murder directly violates the Constitution.
For the sake of our children, for the sake of our community, we demand immediate and widespread gun control.
