Universal Healthcare
1. A Quick Overview
The Free Republic of California engenders to have a healthy and long-living populous, to have a system where one does not look upon healthcare with a fear of bankruptcy, where a mother can get the best care for her children at no cost, where preventative care saves us from disease and agony and where our feet stand at the forefront of technological and scientific advancement.
Every other developed nation has a version of universal healthcare and we certainly deserve the same.
Article 2, Section 12 of our Constitution mandates healthcare for all:
California endeavors to have the healthiest, happiest and longest living society possible. To that end, those who cannot obtain the means necessary for a life of dignity have the right to receive indispensable subsistence, shelter, and care.
Everyone shall be guaranteed the right to basic subsistence in the event of unemployment, illness, or disability and during old age, as well as, at the birth of a child or the loss of a provider.
California shall promote the health of the populous and everyone shall be provided adequate social, health and medical services. Moreover, the public authorities shall support families and others responsible for providing for children so that these caregivers have the mental, physical and financial ability to ensure the well-being and personal development of the children.
The Budget outlines the math, summarizing with:
California’s surplus and collective bargaining power allow for universal healthcare, projecting longer life spans while saving its citizenry over 138.5 billion dollars per year; health and monies destined to continue to grow our society.
In the age of global pandemics, it is also critical to have a global community working together, sharing information and controlling the spread of disease. Thus, the Free Republic of California would support the World Health Organization as a reasonable and unwavering member state. Click here for our future ratification.

Dear _______________,
The U.S. average lifespan is 46th in the world and yet we are 1st in expense per capita for healthcare. This math makes no sense. Where else would one pay the most for the worst return? Universal healthcare has proven to result in healthier societies while saving significant monies that are directly re-injected into the economy.
Why would you not want a healthier, wealthier community? Why would you want your constituents to fear going to the hospital, weighing their lives against crippling bankruptcy?
Imagine an America that is healthier and wealthier. Please support universal healthcare (without a multitude of loopholes) immediately.
Sincerely yours,
X
